The Big Hole Valley in Southwestern Montana is nearly surrounded by the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest. It is the highest valley in Montana, with the Big Hole River, winding about 150 miles, internationally famous for trout fishing. Lewis and Clark rested at these grassy hot springs in the center of what is now Wisdom, Montana.
